I’ve been doing quite a bit of traveling in the past week. And, first of all, travel is magic. You can wake up in one part of the country and go to sleep in another. Or in a different country! Or a different continent! How crazy is that? With that aside, there are good and bad parts about all forms of travel.
In the last week, I drove two hours to St. Louis, flew two hours to New York, rode the subway around for an indeterminate amount of time, took a train for five hours to Vermont, and rode for about half an hour to Spofford, New Hampshire. And when I got back to St. Louis using the same methods, I drove for six and a half hours to Alabama.
Driving:
– Cool because you get to control where you’re going
– Not cool because you don’t get to control how your leg’s going to hurt after holding it at the same angle for six+ hours
Flying:
– Amazing because planes literally cannot be explained by anyone
– Not amazing because they are very small and there is a lot of waiting
Trains:
– Sweet because there is leg room and wifi and lots of weird people to eavesdrop on
– Not sweet because the weird people are terrible and will scream at their kids and talk about their children’s finances for five hours
Subways:
– Neat because you’ll feel like an adult who knows how trains work and which ones are good to get on
– Not neat because they are crowded and you will have to stand and your arm will hurt from holding the not-falling-down bar
Motorboats/Kayaks/Sailboats:
– Perfect because there’s water and sun and friends and family and New Hampshire and everything’s perfect
